Family Mediation West (FM West)

Has been delivering a range of family conciliation services in the West of Scotland since 1987. FM West is part of a confederated network within Relationships Scotland and retains status as an independent SCIO. Funded primarily by Scottish Government, as well as fees gained for certain services; plans have arisen to grow services and generate income via Trusts and Foundations. This is an exciting new post; as FM West enters a new chapter of development across all service areas; including our Child Contact Centers which will become regulated in 2027.

Main Purpose

The purpose of the post is to deliver income from a range of private and statutory trusts and foundations. To work as part of a team to sustain and grow trust income in line with key priority areas, while ensuring that all evaluations are met and relationships with funders are maintained.

Dimensions

The post-holder will need to have a proven track record in trust fundraising and be responsible for developing and managing the FM West portfolio. FM West currently gains Scottish Government funding on an annual basis, and a small number of other private trust successes. FM West will be looking for the postholder to create a viable and realistic trust fundraising strategy, which aims to increase regular trust income. You will have a creative approach, with an ability to write interesting and engaging proposals. It is important that candidates genuinely enjoy writing about the work we do and showcasing this to potential funders in a way that engages them effectively. You will have excellent written communication skills, and confidence writing for different audiences/contexts.

Principal Responsibilities

  • To implement and develop a strategy to maximize income from warm and cold
  • To research appropriate funders that align well with services at FM West and ensure that funding priority areas are identified to apply
  • To write compelling funding applications to
  • To establish, maintain and develop personalized relationships with key personnel within existing and future funding
  • To liaise and work with colleagues to agree on attractive projects prior to written application
  • To report regularly to the Director; with updates on research, funding projects, applications and
  • To build pipeline within the fundraising strategy for FM
  • To ensure prompt, impactful and accurate reporting to all current
  • To maintain annual approach calendars, adhere to filing and database system entry (training given).

Experience

  • Experience of writing successful fundraising applications to foundations and charitable
  • Established trust fundraising experience and evidence of securing annual income from all sizes of
  • Experience/ability to develop and implement future trust fundraising strategies – including acquisition, retention, and
  • Ability to write accurate evaluation
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to tight
  • Ability to work well within a team and support the management of funding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • An ability to develop relationships with grant –making
  • Experience of reporting within current and potential income and
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Have a good understanding of relevant GDPR compliance and
